As described in my last post, I built the forge that the Essential Craftsman described in his channel. Fairly easy to build overall.

Forge running for the first time.

The burner is a propane burner was sold by someone from Wales, and it works a treat. It’s obviously a small forge, but the burner brings it up to a good temperature in a very few minutes.

It’s very satisfying to shape steel with a hammer.

Early attempt at forging

As you can see, I’m just using a cheap lump hammer. It’s not quite heavy enough and the faces could do with some adjustment. Rounded on one side and flatter on the other with more rounded bevels.

That’ll be a project for another day.
