Despite my positive last post, that second attempt at tongs was way off too. My third, however was closer… close enough to make a working set. The rivet had me puzzled, but I got something usable.
The above picture shows a small piece of 7-8mm round steel to use as a rivet, drawn out of another piece. Without having a working set of tongs yet, I had to get all this into the forge and back out again without dropping the rivet. It certainly wasn’t the prettiest, but worked out pretty well.
